It has been a very busy past month for the Kavanagh Racing team, who have purchased 10 horses from the recent Karaka and Inglis yearling sales.

At the Karaka Sales in New Zealand we purchased two beautifully bred colts by Charm Spirit (IRE). Charm Spirit was a brilliant racehorse and has the credentials to make an outstanding sire.

• Lot 72 - Bay colt out of a Black Minnaloushe mare, Black Beauty - $80,000

• Lot 431 - Bay colt out of a Fastnet Rock mare, New Age Rocka - $70,000 (pictured below)

We also attended the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale in Sydney at the new Riverside Stables. Mark was very impressed with the new facility and more so, the quality of horses on offer. We were delighted to secure an additional eight horses for the stable.

Mark knew he had a talented filly on his hands and couldn’t be more thankful to her breeders Brent and Cherry Taylor of Trelawney Stud in New Zealand who sent her over earlier this year.

Kentucky creates more than a breeze

Kentucky creates more than a breeze

Kentucky Breeze rewarded connections with their patience with a tough win in the $60,000 Suez McKellar Mile (1600m) at Saturday’s metropolitan Ballarat meeting. Trained by Kavanagh Racing’s Levi Kavanagh and ridden by apprentice Ethan Brown, Kentucky Breeze notched together his third career victory from ten career starts, making upwards of $150,000 in career earnings.

Kav Racing Hot's Up!

Kav Racing Hot's Up!

It may have been a quiet Spring, but Kavanagh Racing’s team has been set for the Summer period. With a lot of inexperienced young horses set to race in the next few months the stable is happy with their decision to bypass the Spring and take advantage of the excellent pastures and give their horses a little for time, and the way the horses have developed is testament to the fact they made the right move.
