Black Type Vixen
Wild Vixen has returned home safe and sound after her recent trip to Adelaide where she opened her black type account in the Listed HC Nitschke Stakes over 1400m.
Her trainer Levi Kavanagh could not be happier with her progress to date, in particular her performance over the weekend, her most prestigious win so far.
“She has raced nine times and only been out of the money on a few occasions. I’ve always had a high opinion of her and I’m just glad she put it together on the track on Saturday,” said Levi.
“Jason (Holder) rode her perfectly settling just off the pace, rounding the home turn he sat quietly and when he asked her to go over the last 300m she quickened so well, it was exciting to watch.”
The three-year-old daughter of Foxwedge is likely to head to Flemington in next few weeks and depending on how she goes, Levi will consider her options from there.
“She has pulled up well, so at this stage we will head to a 1400m race Flemington in three weeks.”
“She has won at a mile, but 1400 metres is the ideal distance for her. She also appreciates a bit of a gap between her races, so that should suit her perfectly.”
The daughter of Foxwedge was purchased from the Gold Coast Magic Millions Sale in 2018. The ownership group who includes Brett Griffith and Tim Storey, of the Collins St Partners syndicate, purchased her older half-sister the year before, she is also trained by Levi.
“Queen’s Authority has been handy but Wild Vixen is certainly showing more potential, we are excited to see where she can get too,” added Levi.
Wild Vixen and Queens Authority are out of Amy’s Glen (Shamardal {USA}), who won on three occasions and was stakes placed. Her first two dams Carlin (Scenic {Ire}) and Regal Walk (Godswalk {USA}) were also multiple winners and placed in Listed events.
