Chivalry relaxed ahead of Blue Diamond

Street Cry colt Chivalry looked in good order on Thursday morning when he met the media and posed with Carlton Football Club captain and 'Relaxed Racing' ambassador Marc Murphy ahead of Saturday's Blue Diamond.

The two-year-old colt was noticeably more relaxed than his former Kavanagh trained counterpart Malidivan who made sports back pages a fortnight ago when he tried to eject rugby league legend and jockey for the day Billy Slater from the saddle whilst carrying out his ambassadorial duties at Caulfield.

Chivalry was a model citizen by contrast but did give Murphy a nip when toying with a football offered by the AFL star despite an earlier assurance from trainer Mark Kavanagh that "he won't bite".

Chivalry was an eye catching third to Rubick in the Colts & Geldings Prelude (1100m) making good ground out wide after settling well back in the field. He did his Diamond chances no harm when he drew barrier 5 at Tuesdays draw, while race favourite Rubick drew out in 10 and Fillies Prelude winner Earthquake drew wider again in 15. The colt will also sport blinkers for the first time and it is anticipated he will be able to sit handier than his last run.

Trainer Mark Kavanagh is well acquainted with the Street Cry breed having trained stakes winners Whobegotyou, Shocking, Midnight Martini, Za Moulin Rouge and Liveandletdie and whilst all but Za Moulin Rouge won their stakes races at three years and beyond the stable has produced a Blue Diamond winner in Undoubtedly who won the 2005 edition.
