Diamond decision for Casquets

A decision on whether Talindert Stakes winner Casquets will accept for next Saturday's Blue Diamond will be made on Tuesday morning.

The filly pulled up well after turning in a terrific performance to win the Talindert at just her second race start.

“There’s certainly improvement in her and if she can improve as much going into next week as she has from (last start) Moonee Valley to here she would certainly be a chance you’d think.” Mark Kavanagh commented post race.

The Talindert Stakes has been the launching pad for many a good horse including last seasons winner All Too Hard and champion Miss Finland but since the races inception in 1985 only three horses Star Witness (2010), Sleek Chassis (2007) and Riva Diva (1992) have completed the Talindert/Blue Diamond double.

“We brought one over for the Talindert a few years ago (Tipungwuti) and had the money on but it got done (by) half a length by Miss Finland and she’d only won a maiden at Ballarat so I feel good today.”

Casquets, like stable star Atlantic Jewel, races in the colours of Coolmore stud who stand the pairs illustrious sire Fastnet Rock.
