Fast Approaching brings up third straight win at Caulfield.

Trainer Mark Kavanagh rightly forewarns owners that "traditionally it's very hard to win a metropolitan race straight after winning a maiden" and moreover "it is hard to win three in a row" but progressive filly Fast Approaching has done just that this preparation.

A daughter of Darley's Epsom Derby winner and highly regarded sire New Approach, Fast Approaching has been a revelation since notching her three length maiden success at Bendigo on April 16.

Her next start at Geelong, a mid-week metropolitan race transferred from Sandown, resulted in her second consecutive win. Relishing her role as pacemaker Fast Approaching led all the way and provided an extra kick when challenged by eventual runner up Testability. While she held a long neck advantage over that filly at the post it was a further three and a quarter lengths to Go Jennio in third.

The three-year-old made a successful step to Saturday class on the weekend and did so with the tenacity that is fast becoming her trademark. Again making the pace the filly lead all the way and refused to be beaten fighting off Easy Flyer in a head bobbing finish.

That win, her third in a row, brought her record to three wins and a third from five starts. Her prizemoney of $126,150 has been augmented to the tune of $44,900 with Vobis and Vobis Gold bonuses making her a great advertisement for the scheme.

Fast Approaching was purchased as a yearling by her trainer at the Gold Coast Magic Millions for $72,500. She could run next at Moonee Valley on the 30th of May.
