Five for the weekend!

The Adelaide Cup long weekend proved bountiful for the Kavanagh stable with five winners across two days of racing.

A highlight of the five winners was the stunning six length return to racing by We're Gonna Rock (pictured top). The son of Fastnet Rock was having his first start since injuring a suspensory after the Futurity Stakes in February last year. His return to racing was carefully orchestrated and involved a gelding operation, diet and slow rehabilatory work.

Group One placed in the Toorak Handicap We're Gonna Rock was asked to carry 60kg in the ratings based handicap, conceding 5.5kg to leader and eventual runner up Globalwarminsceptic. We're Gonna Rock went past that horse in the straight as if he was proverbially 'stuck to the fence' and went home to record a sub-33 second last 600m.

Debutant Tormented (pictured bottom) completed a race to race double when she led throughout in the two-year-old event. The filly mustered good speed after the jump to share the lead and when headed in the straight by Languish fought on gamely on the rail to wrest a neck victory. Watch the replay here.

Falbrav gelding Faltastic won the last in good style completing a treble at Morphettville for the stable and giving jockey Mark Pegus four winners for the day.

Honours for the day however lay with Instalment who collected his first stakes win at Flemington in the Listed VRC Moomba Stakes (1100m). Tackling the famed straight course for the first time Instalment gained a late split and burst through for a last stride win rewarding a patient ride from Michael Rodd.

The ever improving Set And Forget made it five winners for the weekend when he was successful in the Adelaide Casino Hcp on the Adelaide Cup undercard.
