Group One trio head to Caulfield
Proven Group One performers December Draw, Atlantic Jewel and Super Cool represent the Mark Kavanagh stable at Caulfield tomorrow on Guineas day.
Import December Draw, who won the 2011 Turnbull Stakes, lines up in the Toorak Handicap. He has been unplaced in two runs since returning from an injury induced lay off but both runs have been full of merit. Although drawn wide he is expected to run a forward race.
Star mare Atlantic Jewel will be looking to atone for her last start defeat in the Underwood Stakes. The daughter of Fastnet Rock suffered her first defeat at the hands of It's A Dundeel, albeit by a slender short head margin.
The mare clashes with stable mate Super Cool in the Caulfield Stakes run over 2000 metres. Super Cool has enjoyed little luck in his past two starts and while the small field could see the race develop into one of tactics, both horses are expected to acquit themselves well.
