Impressive purchases at Karaka

Having just arrived back from the Karaka Sales in New Zealand, Mark is very excited to introduce to you, two standout yearlings that Kavanagh Racing purchased, a filly by Per Incanto (Street Cry) and a colt by Tavistock.

"Lately I have had a lot of enquiries about getting some quality staying horses in the stable and I believe both these horses look like true stayers and have the pedigree to match," said Mark.

Lot 189 - Per Incanto (USA) - Magic Briar

This filly is by Street Cry stallion Per Incanto, who is one of the hottest sires in New Zealand at the moment. She is from an excellent staying family and is a lovely type.

"I would expect her to have a couple of runs as a two-year-old and then go on to be competing in all the best three-year-old fillies’ races in the Spring."

"I have had fabulous results with the Street Cry progeny and believe this sire has the right credentials to be a real success."

Purchased for $125,000.00NZD, this is an excellent opportunity and this filly comes highly recommended.

Lot 193 - Tavistock - Mansera (FR)

This colt is by leading New Zealand sire Tavistock. Tavistock has already produced plenty of classic winners including Werther, Tarzino, Tavago and Volkstok’n’barrell, to mention a few. He is a half-brother to a winner in France and closely related to Manighar who won an Australian Cup and 10 other races.

"I believe he will make a lovely Derby or Cups horse. He is a beautifully balanced colt and a real looker."

Purchased for $145,000.00NZD, this colt truly has an international pedigree and certainly worthy of your consideration.

Both yearlings arrived in Australia on Thursday. If anyone wishes to see the yearlings or have any further questions please call Mark on 03 9372 6547 or send me an email at mark@kavanaghracing.com

Mark knew he had a talented filly on his hands and couldn’t be more thankful to her breeders Brent and Cherry Taylor of Trelawney Stud in New Zealand who sent her over earlier this year.

Kentucky creates more than a breeze

Kentucky Breeze rewarded connections with their patience with a tough win in the $60,000 Suez McKellar Mile (1600m) at Saturday’s metropolitan Ballarat meeting. Trained by Kavanagh Racing’s Levi Kavanagh and ridden by apprentice Ethan Brown, Kentucky Breeze notched together his third career victory from ten career starts, making upwards of $150,000 in career earnings.

Kav Racing Hot's Up!

Kav Racing Hot's Up!

It may have been a quiet Spring, but Kavanagh Racing’s team has been set for the Summer period. With a lot of inexperienced young horses set to race in the next few months the stable is happy with their decision to bypass the Spring and take advantage of the excellent pastures and give their horses a little for time, and the way the horses have developed is testament to the fact they made the right move.
