Love The Rock dazzles under lights

Progressive filly Love The Rock posted a dazzling display under the Moonee Valley lights last Friday and in doing so earned a tilt at some better races in the Autumn.

The win, albeit in maiden company, over the Cox Plate course and distance (2040m) was good enough to suggest that the daughter of Fastnet Rock could develop into a handy staying filly.

Love The Rock settled in seventh for rider Michael Rodd and showed a good turn of the foot at the 800 when unleashed by her rider. She circled the field and kicked for home at the top of the straight putting four and three quarter lengths on her nearest rival Host Me with Beldan another two lengths astern in third.

The three-year-old debuted at Ballarat over 1400m on November 13 when an encouraging fourth and improved at her second outing at Bendigo when stepped up to a mile and with the addition of blinkers she was second, beaten a long head, against the older mares.

Love The Rock was immediately spelled after her Moonee Valley win with a view to bringing her back for an Autumn preparation. Whether she heads to Sydney, Brisbane or Adelaide for the three-year-old fillies races is yet to be determined.
