Making a splash on the Gold Coast
It was no surprise to see leading Flemington trainer Mark Kavanagh secure a pair of quality youngsters by top international sire Street Cry at the second session of the Magic Millions yearling sale on the Gold Coast.
He went toe to toe with Hong Kong's George Moore to buy Baramul Stud's Villa Bled colt for $550,000.
"I bought him with a couple of good stable clients in mind," Kavanagh said. "But there's a few shares still available and he'll fill fast."
"The stable has obviously had a lot of luck with the breed with Whobegotyou and Shocking and others and this bloke is better bred than them and looks a better type at the same stage."
"I'm excited to buy him. You don't often see a horse of his quality and he really took my eye," Kavanagh added.
