Santorini Summer Scores

It was well worth the trip to Adelaide for Santorini Summer who took out the $100K Adelaide Galvanising Two-Year-Old Plate yesterday.

Joe Bowditch who rode Santorini Summer at his first start a fortnight earlier in Adelaide for a close second, sat patiently throughout the ride and when he asked him to go, he let down well to win by a length.

“He was really good, I think he is a very smart little horse”, said Bowditch after the race.

“I learnt my lesson from his last run and didn’t shake him up to early because I knew how quick he would go when I pressed the button. He has a great turn of foot.”

Mark told the owners that he would ‘tip him out for a rest now and bring him back for some better races. I think he is going to be pretty good horse.”

Kavanagh Racing purchased the Eurozone gelding from Mill Park’s draft at the 2017 Adelaide Magic Millions Sale. Closely related to Mark’s seven-time stakes winner and South Australian bred Racehorse of the Year, Catapulted (Catbird).

As soon as we saw him we knew we had to have him; he reminded us so much of Catapulted. He was an exceptional galloper for the stable, earning nearly $1,000,000 in prize money for his connections. He was one of the rare horses in the country to win stakes races in three states,” Mark said.

The Eurozone colt is the second foal out of the talented mare Fast And Loose (Fastnet Rock), a $360,000 Easter yearling from Mill Park, who was also trained by the Kavanagh stable. A haft-sister to Catapulted, she ran a gallant fourth in the Listed Queen Adelaide Stakes as a juvenile at only her second start.

Santorini Summer's owners flew in from all around the country to cheer him on and could'nt more excited the geldings future.
