Shampz a winner at Tatura
The trip to Tatura on Sunday ended up being a fruitful one for Kavanagh Racing, with Another Shampz (trained by Levi) winning her maiden and Helmaz (trained by Mark) being bloused on the line by the favourite, dead-heating for second.
Another Shampz, raced by Flemington Investments, Tim Storey and Wende Scott, worked across from the wide draw to lead and was never in doubt with young Michael Poy in the saddle. The daughter of Zoustar has always shown natural ability and is bound to take improvement out of the run and is expected to be a handy type next preparation with a bit more experience. She is likely to head to town for a 3yo fillies event. Levi is currently training at a strike rate better than 20%, demonstrating how well placed his runners have been.
Helmaz has had a luckless preparation and the positive to deem out of his three runs is his record allows him to easily gain a start in an appropriated maiden next time in. After missing the kick two runs ago, Mark has worked on his barrier manners and it was a positive sign to see him jump cleanly on Sunday. A win shouldn’t be to far away for the son of Helmet.
This week Kavanagh racing will be showcasing their Rubick colt on offer. Rubick has already been on the podium in the first 2yo Stakes race in Sydney and this boy is a real early runner.
