The Week Ahead

Hopefully Montenegro Man’s impressive win at Moonee Valley last night was a sign of things to come for the week ahead. Kavanagh Racing has four runners over the first two days of the Flemington Carnival, and three starters at Echuca’s Melbourne Cup Day meeting on Tuesday.

Mark saddles up Horrifying at Flemington on Saturday in the Group 3 Network 10 Carbine Club Stakes. His recent performance at Bendigo was full of merit, clocking the fastest closing splits of the meeting. He is a quality colt with plenty of upside.

Levi has three runners on Cup Day at Flemington, Bixilon (Race 3), Wild Vixen (Race 9) and Excess Funds (Race 10).

Bixilon resumes off a solid jump-out. He showed potential in his first campaign and still had a bit to learn. He has furnished into a nice colt this time in and we will get a good handle on his ability on Tuesday when he takes his place in the Schweppervescence Plate over 1000m.

Wild Vixen hit a new level first-up winning the Black Pearl Stakes on Geelong Cup day last start. She steps up to Group 3 level on Tuesday taking on a quality field of Mares and Fillies in The Hong Kong Jockey Club Stakes over her preferred distance of 1400m.

Excess Funds rebounded back to his career best form last start at Caulfield where he ran second to Coruscate in the Neds Village Stakes. On Tuesday he heads down the famous Flemington straight in the MSS Security Sprint, at the same grade and distance.

Our Echuca runners include Wild Vixen’s sister Queens Authority, Whobethatnow and Wordy.

Whilst owners cannot visit the stables or attend the races, Kavanagh Racing has stepped up and tried to provide more video content to owners to ensure a positive racing experience. We wish everyone the best of luck!
